LAND PURCHASE PLAN WORKERS’ “MEANS TEST” (Pur Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. When 'the House of Representatives met this morning, Mr. E. P. Meachen (Lab., Marlborough; gave notice to ask the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, if the Government would consider acquiring land in the Blenheim district for the purpose of closer settlement and for -the production of vegetables ior the Wellington market. Mr. J. Largest (Nat.. Awarua) gave notice to ask the acting Minister of Social Security, the Hon. W. E. Parry, if 'he were aware that seasonal workers applying for relief were com. polled to submit by departmental officers to a “means test.”
