MARKET LOST
PURCHASES OF TIMBER DOMINION’S ITIGI-I COSTS Increased costs of production in the Dominion and, consequently, higher prices were given by Mr. L. S. Gumming, chairman of directors of V. B. Trapp and Company Proprietary, Limited, New South Wales, as, reasons why his company had had to turn from New Zealand to other sources for supplies of timber. Mr. Camming, who is chairman of directors or a director of several other firms engaged in the timber trade, arrived at Auckland en route to Canada, Alaska and tho United States.
V. 8.. Trapp and Company had been very large purchasers of New Zealand limbers, such as white pine, kauri, rimu and matai, Mr. Camming said. Rising costs had made it difficult to continue buying in the Dominion, however, and purchases had almost ceased. Supplies were being obtained now from Fiji, the Philippines. Canada, and the United States
