FATAL CRASH SEQUEL THREE GRAVE CHARGES DEATH OF WOMAN , ' (Per Press Association.) WHANGAREI, this day. William Pefa Paki, the central figure in the sensation at Okaihau oni June 16, was charged in the Kaikohe Police Court to-day with attempted suicide, attempted murder o£ his small son and having unlawfully caused the death of Mrs. Annie Evelyn Marsh, thereby committing manslaughter. The evidence showed that the accused, after trying unsuccessfully •jo induce his wife to return to him from a boardinghouse where she was living, took his car from a garage, placed his small son alongside him and raced at terrific speed up and down, the main road through the township. He struck Mrs. Marsh s car which was pulled up on the side of the road. Mrs. Marsh was killed. Paki, who was later discovered with his throat cut, declared he had no intention of colliding with Mrs. Marsh’s car.

Several witnesses testified to the car’s sensational career through the town, one stating that Paki seemed to have lost control of the car. The case is proceeding.
