CHARGES AGAINST MAORI FURTHER EVIDENCE 11 EARD (Pur Press Association.) WIIANGAREI, this day. Further evidence was heard in the Kaikohe Police Court to-day against Wiluiam Peru Paki, aged 26, a Maori, who was charged with attempting to commit suicide, attempting to murder his infant son and unlawfully causing the death of Mrs. Annie Evelyn Marsh, thereby committing manslaughter. A witness staled he had heard Paki say to his wife during a quarrel that he would do away with iiis son. Mrs. Roussel!, Okaihau, who was on the 'golf links when the crash took place, said she .saw Paki pull His son out of the car ,by the heels and dash him to the .ground. William Ware, father-in-law, said hr-, saw the collision which lie considered was deliberate. Paki’s counsel asked Ware whether he did not hate Paki. Witness refused to answer until told by Detective Finlay to do so.

Ware then said lie could not like the accused.
