GAOL FOR 30 YEARS
TEST CASE IN SPAIN SOCIALIST LEADER (.Reed. July 12. 9 a.m.) MADRID, July 10. The former Speaker of the Spanish Parliament, Senior Julian Besteiro, the Moderate Socialist leader, who was court-martialled on a charge of rebellion, has been sentenced to imprisonment for 30 years. The prosecutor had demanded the death penalty, and the proceedings were regarded as a test case reflecting the whole position of political responsibility in Spain
