BOY SCOUT JAMBOREE
4800 APPLICATIONS MADE OVERSE AS TONTINE ENT 30 BOYS FROM BRITAIN (Pur Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Applications to attend the New Zealand Centennial Boy Scout jamboree at Heretaunga next December are pouring in to the jamboree headquarters at Wellington. So far 4300 New Zealand application:' have been received and 600 from overseas. The quota is by no means complete. Applications from boys closed last month, and July 10 was named as the final date for the districts to arrange their individual quo*as, which are now being received at headquarters. It is expected that a further 200 applications at least will be received. Overseas applications are still open. A message was received yesterday from the London headquarters commissioner, Mr. Harold Legat, stating that if was likely a party of 30 British Scouts would attend, though at the time of writing the full number was not made up. Thirty berths had been booked by the Rangitane. arriving, at Auckland on December 13. The Scouts would tour New Zealand for a fortnight before the jamboree, arriving at Heretunga two days before the opening to prepare their camp. They would sail by the Wanganella on Tanuarv 19, to join the Esperanee Bay at Sydney.
