CANDIDATES FOR TEAM LAST CHANCES TO-DAY To-day’s matches in the senior ■grade offered the last opportunity for the sole selector to view the material offering for the (Southern tour to be made by the Poverty Bay senior representative Rugby team and, for this reason, players were on the alert to clinch their claims for selection or to make a lastmmute impression on the selector. It is expected that the selector will announce his team over the week-end and the personnel will be available for publication on Monday. Celtic, who have been experiencing a hard season, were expected to field a strong team for their game with Old Boys in the senior grade and the greens were expected to give a prominent display. In the early game On No. 1 ground a match of vital importance to junior players was that between Marists and Old Boys B, the leading teams in the grade. Old Boys, champions for the past two seasons, require a win to place them bad; in the championship race, while a win to Marists would make the side practically certain of winning the championship. Results at 2.20 p.m. were as follows: — Juniors Old Boys B 11, Marist 0. H. 5.0.8. 3, Old Boys A 0.
