TRAWLER HELD UP
SEVEN WEEKS' DELAY FIREMEN’S NOVEL PLAINT The steam trawler Futurist, has been idle at Wellington for seven weeks as the result of the attitude adopted by certain cf the crew. It was stated last week that the trouble arose through the firemen, who had been on the vessel for about five or six weeks, objecting to sailing with a sea-man-fisherman who has been employed by New Zealand Fisheries’; Limited, owners of the Futurist, for some years. The company took a firm stand and the result has been that the ship lias been held up here ever since. The company depends on the Futurist. for abopl til) per cent of its fish supplies and through Ihe vessel being out of commission the quantity of fish available at Wellington has been affected. Costs have also been increased through the company having to get supplies of fish elsewhere and because of this retail prices in some instances, it was stated on Tuesday afternoon, had risen.
