HAWKE’S BAY MANTLED
TRAFFIC DELAYED LAUD LOSSES FEARED (Per Press Association.) HASTINGS, this day. Bitterly cold conditions prevailed throughout Hawke's Bay yesterday, with high winds and heavy falls ot snow on the high country. Late in the afternoon snow began to fall, in the southern end' of the province, advancing north to the hills is ■•‘xtremely iike'v that further falls will come during the night .as the temperature is dropping and clouds are banking up. It is .feared that there will be losses of early lambs which, for the las; three weeks have been making their appearance in substantial numbers. Heavy snow fell yesterday on the Napier-Taupo road. Drifts were 2ft. deep in places. One car was held up for some hours in snow. Service cars are 'maintaining the schedules with difficulty.
