Protesting against a sharp reduction in wages enacted in the new Relief Bill,'nation-wide strikes .of serious proportions are occurring among Works Progress Administration workers who, in many cases, arc backed by the American Federation of Labour. Skilled workers walked off projects in various parts of the country and it is feared that a total of 150,000 may be affected, with possible sympathetic strikes in ironworks Progress Administration work. The committee of Industrial Organisation is also expected to assist the strike movement, which, in cities such as New York and Chicago, will seriously delay public works, largescale housing, and so on.
