APPEAL TO MINISTER
CITY DRIVERS’ UNION AID FOR NEGOTIATION (Ter Tress Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. As a result of a meeting that filled line Trades Hall last night, the Auckland Drivers' Union decided to request the Minister of Labour, the Hon. P. C. Webb, to prevail upon the Employers’ Association to meet the union in a disputes committee for the purpose of discussing clauses in me award which are in dispute. The secretary, Mr. L. G. Matthews ana Mr. Muuer reported on their recent visit -to Wellington and their interviews with Mr. Webb and the employers’ AssociationAccording to an official statement issued to-day on behalf of the executive, the 'assurance given by Mr. Webb that he would do all in his power to expedite the hearing of the dispute relating to the 40-hour week, was unanimously accepted by the men, who indicated 'their appreciation of this 'assurance by resolution. The meeting decided to circulate the drivers’ case throughout New Zealand explaining the actions of the Employers’ Association.
