Mr. W. B. Manning, principal stock inspector for the Wellington district, is at present in the Gisborne district, and to-day visited the Coast.
Miss A. A. Holro.vd, Wanganui, who has arrived to join the teaching stafT of the Ormond School, is the guest of Mrs. M. Aldred, Harris street. Mr. W. L. Mills, field superintendent of the Sudan United Mission in the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan, and Mrs. Mills, have returned: to New Zealand on a ibrief furlough, and are at present in Auckland.. Mr. A. J. C. Nicholson, M.Sc., of Canterbury College, has been awarded the 1851 Exhibition science research scholarship, according to cabled notice received from England by the registrar of the University 'of New Zealand. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Becrc, very old residents of Gisborne, left to-day for Wellington to join the Awatea for Sydney. Mr. and Mrs. Becre intend residing in Australia, and yesterday ■jlicy ireceived final farewells from many of their old friends of Gisborne and district.
