TERRITORIAL RECRUITS

MINISTER PLEASED DOMINION CAMPAIGN NEW SPIRIT APPARENT (Per PrjiKs Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. “Both as Minister of Defence and as -chairman of the Army Recruiting Committee, I am very pleased with the results of our campaign, to raise the- terriitoriail force 'to. 16,000 and, what is equally important, with the excellent spirit in which the work is toeing done,” said .the Hon. F. Jones yesterday. “Expansion of this nature means extensive reorganisation, particularly in -the country areas where :the units are distributed! in small, widelyscattered troop or platoon training centres.

“In-country areas, it means a great deal more work and longer hours for the -attenuated regular staff; in fact,

if iit were mot for the enthusiastic and able assistance given by the serving territorials themselves, the tasks could not be done.

“Fallowing the -recent appeal by the Prime -Minister the recruiting atmosphere has changed. We 'held a meeting recently at. a troop centre and- filled up. On one effort some months ago, -we did 1 not get anyone at the meeting there.

“Things are moving all right and tlie regiment .is full of new heart and' is -going -strong. The territorial force will reach full strength and high-ear efficiency While it works wilth this spirit,” -the Minister concluded.
