DANGER OF SURRENDER LONDON. June 13. Lord Stonehaven, a former Gover-nor-General of Australia, who has previously been critical of the attitude of the Prime Minister, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, towards the problem of the former German -;olor ! es. 9 -ked the House of Lords yesterday what sort of concessions the Government was prepared to make. He asked whether there was any sense in surrendering vital and strategic points? The Foreign Secretary, Viscount Halifax, replied that the Government realised the difficulties of the question, which were the greater because nearly everybody tended to regard it as a simple process of the rendition of territory, which, of all possible solutions, was the most difficult. s He said that he preferred not to add to the Government’s previous statements.
