THANKS FOR RETURN THE KING AND QUEEN SPECIAL PRAYER OFFERED ADDRESS BY CANON (Eli*c. Ti'l. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. July 3, 2.20 p.m.) LONDON. July 2. Crowds watched the arrival of the King and Queen at Westminster Abbey .for the thanksgiving service for their safe return from the tour abroad.
The congregation included the Dominion Secretary, Sir Thomas Inskip, and other Ministers and members of the Royal household. The Dean of Westminister, Dr. P. F. Dekvcour d’e Labilliere, offered a special prayer. The Canon of Westminster, Dr. F. R. Burry, in a sermon said that the tour revealed the true meaning of the commonwealth.
He added thait civilisation had brought itself to the brink of .selfdestruction and the choice was Christianity or the jungle.
“We give thanks for the inspiration given to the world by the King and Queen,” he sajd. The Ring, in the afternoon, reviewed 20,000 national service men from all parts of the country in Hyde Park.
