DIVISIONS NECESSARY WHYTE AND WOBURN WIN - AND - PLACE BETTIN G! By “Trenton" The Wellington Racing Club’s winter meeting will open to-morrow at Trentham, when the win-and-place system of betting will be in operation. As usual, big fields are engaged in five events, and at the time of writing divisions will he required in both the Woburn and Whyte Handicaps, unless at least four runners are scratched in each event. The remaining three races, which include the big race of the day, the Wellington Steeplechase, have drawn comparatively small fields. Although winners arc usually hard to find, the following arc expected to show up in their engagements: Mariri Steeples: Chile, Bridegroom, Silver Sight. Woburn Hack (first division): Halley, Susan. Erlick (Second division): High Test, Vivacious, Shining Hours. Vittorio. Hack Hurdles: Lustral, Erebus, Fireguard. Stewards’ Handicap: Amigo, Fleet Street, Besiege. Wellington Steeples: Power Chief, Survoy, John Charles.
Trentham Hurdles: Recollection, ' Loonnbination, Esteem, or Fireguard if reserved.
Whyte Handicap (first division): Mataroa, Sly Fox, Monipere. (Second division): Quadroon, Valmint, Yours Truly.
