The flyingboat Cuba, w.liicn recently completed the first survey flight of the Indian Ocean from Australia to Kenya Colony, arrived from the Virgin Islands yesterday. Mr. Archbold and the crew <are proceeding to San Diego to fly to Felixstowe a 154oin’ consolidated patrol bomber Which Jhe Air Ministry had secretly ordered.
The machine is the largest contracted (for outside of'the Empire. If the bomber, which has a range of 4000 miles, passes the rigorous Royal Air Force tests .a large order may be placed in the United States, or as in the ease of the Soviet, may be produced in England under license.
A spectacular two-day delivery flight is planned. The machine will vault the continent from San Biego to Bot Wood, Newfoundland, a distance of 3300 miles and. after refuelling, fly ’The Atlantic. The Cuba's crew were selected because of their experience in handling huge seaplanes.
