RALLY FIRST OF KIND

ASSEMBLY OF VOLUNTEERS CIVIL defence' units (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 1.30 33.111. RUGBY, July 2. A notable feature of the national service parade which attracted a very large crowd was that every man and woman in the parade was a volunteer. The rally was the' first occasion of its kind. Not only were there detachments from the auxiliary services of the fighting forces—the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve, the territorials and the Royal Air Force auxiliaries—but for the first time the forces of civil defence marched with the fighting services.
