WAIKOHU SUB-UNION PUTIA—TE KARAKA DRAW, LINE NOT CROSSED (H,-ral<l Correspondent.) The first game in the final round of the Waikohu Rugby Sub-Union's inter-club matches was played in Te Karaka on Saturday between the Puha and Tc Karaka teams, the result being a draw with the score three-all. Botli scores were the result of penalty kicks. Play was fairly even throughout the game, which consisted for the most part in hard rucking ,by the forwards. Had the Te Karaka ■backs shown somewhat better combination and handling the result would have been very different. P. Brown, the Te Karaka skipper, showed good judgment in finding the line on several occasions when Puha were pressing hard. The first score came when an infringement by the Te Karaka fullback gave Kiwha an easy shot, of which he took full advantage. Owing to an injury to his knee, J. Ruru (Te .Karaka) had to retire early in the first spell and was replaced by D. Watene. Shortly after half-time J. Booth, who had' been playing a solid, game, twisted his lenee and had to be carried off the field sullcring severely from a dislocation. Te Karaka evened the score towards the end of the game, when I. Walker scored a goal from a free kick.
The teams were as follows: Te Karaka. —Forwards, I. Walker, J. Booth A. Manuel, R. Fisher, B. Moore. Id. Jones, J. Diamond, and J. Morris; half, P. Brown: five-eighths, B. Ruru and J. Ruru; three-quarters, A. Smith, J. Polioi and F. Goodley; fuP-back, Rau.
