SOCIAL WELFARE BODIES ART UNION SURPLUSES GRANTS BY STATE ALLOCATIONS ANNOUNCED (Por Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Government has made grants amounting to .£BOOO from surplus art union funds to a number of philanthropic, -dhairi table and kindred institutions The fund' from which the grants are made is formed from the accumulated balances of profits after the regular distribution of £SOOO from each alluvial gold art union, to various mayoral fund's for the relief of distress The names of the institutions to benefit and jthe sum allocated to each are: New Zealand Crippled Children’s Society, £1000; St. Vinvenit De Paul Society, £300; National committee of the Opostleship of the Sea, £250; New Zealand League for the Hard of Hearing, Auckland, £200; Wellington, £100; Dunedin, £100; Christchurch, £100; Society for the Protection of Women and Children, Auckland £250; Wellington, £100; Christchurch, £100; Dunedin, £100; Auckland City Mission, £200; Wellington City Mission, £200; Flying Angel Mission to seamen, £100; Auckland Institute for the Care of Backward Children, £150; Wellington After-Care Society, £150; Auckland Hospital Auxiliary, including Wilson Home and Epsom Infirmary, £150; Auckland Mental Hospital branch, £75; Wellington .Hospital Ladies’ Auxiliary, £75; Palmerston North Hospital Auxiliary, £SO; Red Cross Society, Auckland, £150; Wellington, £150; (Christchurch, £150; Dunedin, £150; Auckland Watcrsidcrs and Seamen's Hospital comforts Fund, £SO; Wellington Waterside Workers’ Hospital Comforts Fund, £SO; Lyttelton Waterside Workers’ Hospital Comforts Fund, £SO; Discharged Prisoners Aid Society, Auckland, ,>C 100; Wellington, £IOO.
