TWO POINTS TO SPARE
CALEDONIAN SECOND FORESTERS A BEATEX PENALTY GOAL DECISION Y M C,A. retain their lead in the Poverty Bay Hockey Association's senior A grade championship by defeating Foresters A on Saturday afternoon, and have now a two-point advantage over Caledonian, who have come into second place one point ahead of Foresters A. This, is the first occasion for many weeks that the lead has been held by more than one point. For some time the first four teams were very closely grouped on the championship table, and even when. Waituhi fell behind the remaining three had only bare margins between them. In the men's senior B .grade, Muriwai have increased their lead to eight points from the next three teams, who are level, and Muriwai are now in an unassailable position.
Owing to the absence of two women’s representative teams in Wairoa, play on the Childers Road Reserve was confined to men’s games. Following the light rain of the past few clays, the turf was greasy.
