* [per press association.—-copyright.] Sydney, Jan 29 Mrs Hamplreys led an unhappy life owing to '.ha drunken habits and ill usage of her husband who last night under the influence of drink, threatened to shoot Ms wife. She fled to a neighbour's and returned this naarHing when the quarrel was resumed on the verandah, lie suddenly fired two shots at his wife both taking effesr, and then ho suicided. Humphrey* wae an ex-guardsmaa and lived some time ia New Zealand.
A tragedy occurred at Dubbo. A man named Walker, who was infatuated with a married woman, asked her to live with him. She refused and ho threatened to shoot her. She left the house to inform tho police, end Walker fired and missed her. When she returned eho found Walker had shot himself dead in the street.
