The Generals claimed that the Government might reposs more confidence in allowing the Boers to e'ect members to the Legislative Council, grant an amnesty and equally compensate all burgher.'. Mr Beit expressed moderate and conciliatory views. Capetown, Jan 26. Mr Chamberlain at Ventersdorp appealed to the Boers to be friend y end loyal, promising equal liberty and more prosperity than they ever hid. General De la Rev, speaking in Dutch, declared that Chamberlain was a strong maD, and of the sort that was needed to set matters right. He urged the Boers to be loyal. The Chamberlains reached Lichtenburg on Sunday.
