REEFTON MINING.
(OUE OWN OORBBSJONDENT.) Alpine Extended,—The Mine manager reports the contractor in No 10 south have driven 6 feet since starting on Monday last, There is 2 feet of stone in the face carrying gold and 2 feet of stone on the hanging wall side not broken into, but I cou'd get no gold in, the drillings. In No 7 the crosscut into t the footwall was driven 78 feet without any change. I have stopped it and started another 100 feet further south into the footwall al«o. lam still stopping in No 11 north. The reef is about the s*me. The contractors wilt start sinking the shaft on Wednesday next. JSew Scotia—For the week No 1 level has been driven 20 feet aud timbered '•):) feet, leaving 50 feet yes to drive to reach perpendicular of ga'lani winze. The driving for the last 8 feet has been harder than usual. In the "gallant" a dis taDce of eight feet has been driven south en the reef. There is at present 4 fee' of stone in the top of drive and 7 feet in the bottom, 4.feet of which is carrying fair gold.
