MATTERS MATRIMONIAL.

Wickes—Fraser. At Kaiapoi last Tuesday was performed a quiet, though very interesting ceremony, when Mr Alfred Wickes, second son of Edmund Wickes, Esq., was married to Miss Lilly Fraser, eldess daughter of W. Fraser. Esq., of Greymouth, and formerly a well known resident of Kaiapoi.

The bride, who looked very beautiful io a gray travelling costume, was given away by G. Parnham E°q., of Eaxapoi. Mias Wfckes, sister of the bridegroom, was the only bridesmaid, end looked very stylish robed in white muslin trimmed with silk, and wore a gold brooch the gift of the bridegroom. Mr Alfred Wickes, the bridegroom is well known as a Greymouth boy and is now 2nd engineer of the Penguin in the Union Company. The position of best man was filled by Mr John Mullin ot Christchurch. The ceremony was performed at St. Luke’s church Kaiapo', by the Rev J. J. Holland.

Immediately after the ceremony tno ■wedding party drove to the residence of Mrs Parnham, who had kindly prepared the usual wedding breakfast, After the customary toasts had been disposed [of the bride and bridegroom amid showe;s of rice, drove to Christchurch on route for Oamaru and Greymouth. The presents received were very numerous and costly and showed the popularity of the happy couple.
