[per PRHSS ASSOCIATION. —COPYRIGHT.] A World’s Record. Sydney, Jan 21. R. Cavill at Newcastle baths swam 120 yards in Lain 12 .1-10 scc>, the world’s record. Sydney Cycling Carnival. The Cycling Carnival has concluded. There was groat interest in the International Championships. The attendance was 25,000. The match between Gudgeon and Walker, to decide who was to meet Major Taylor, resulted in a win for Gudgeon, who, making a phenomonnally fait fi ish beat Walker by a length and a halt in 2 3 2-5, Gudgeon then tackled Taylor. In the first event, a mile paced, Taylor won by three lengths in 22. In the second event, a mile unpaced, Taylor won by a similar distance in 3 12. Tho winner held Gudgeon easily and displayed magn fieent fo-m. Ho received an ovation. Taylor also won tho Taylor Plate. Walne second, Walker third. Cha’mers ran to Taylor in the qualifying heat.
New Zealand Footballers. London, Jan 20. The Rugby Union committee recommends the New Zealand footballers to postpone their visit till September, 1901, owing to the fixtures of next season already being arranged.
