THE GREYMOUTH RACES.
The racing at Heei ton appears to have been of a very keen character, and it also seems to indicate that the locally owned horses are sadly out of conditio a. The late continuous wet weather no doubt had a good deal to do with this, but it is possible that the run at Ecefton may cause improvement. There were a number of horses that took no part in the Eeefton races that will try conclusions here on Tuesday and Wednesday, and so far as we can see the results are of an exceedingly open nature. The races are therefore likely to be the best witnessed on the Greymouth course for many years past. Our fancy for the first day is : Omoto Handicap—Abaydos or Sanfoin. Welter—Sedgebrook or Oyster. . Hurdles —Nayborn. Mawhera Hack—Speculator or Dialogue. - Greymouth Cup—lf >■ in a kindly mood Dundas, but if not Heiress or Cameo. Paparoa Hack—Crusader or Sarah Jennings. Brunner—Rosemere, Sedgebrook, or Heiress, with a strong regard for Cora Linn notwithstanding the heavy weight.
