The Reefton Races. Rebfton, Dec 26.

The Reef ton Jockey Club’s Summer meeting took place to-day. The weather was excellent, there being about 8,000 people present. The racing was of a very satisfactory order, there being some close finishes, the sum of £2,951 passed through the machine for the afternoon. The results are :

Trial—Sedgebrook, 7 10, 1 ; Lady Dundas 8 4,2; Oyster 8 0, 3. Three others ran. Won by a length and a half. Time, 115 2-5; divs £3 8s and 16s.

Point Hack—Dialogue 70, 1, Nance o‘Niel, 91, 2, Lepanto, 70, 3. National also ran. Won by a length. Time 1 33 1-5. Div £3 53.

Inangahua Cup, mile—Heiress, 75, 1, Dundas 8 12, 2, Cameo 93, 3. Four others also started. Sanfoin turned.round at the start, the-efore taking no part in the race, Heiress winning easily by two lengths. Tims 2 12. Divs £22s and 13j.

Hurdles—Nayborn 10 0,1, The Master 10 12, 2. Won all the way. Time 3 30. Div £2 3s.

Electric —Sedgebrook 7 13, 1; Bealey 8 3,2; Dialogue 6 13, 3. Cora Linn also started. Won after a fine race by half a length. Time 118 2-5. Div £2 17s.

The Westport Trotting Club’s Summer meeting on the first day had beautiful weather and a large attendance. £1832 went through the totalisator against £llsß last year. The following are the results :

Hack Selling—Leading Article 1. Galtee More 2, Chart 3. Divs £7 13s and £3 3s. Money Lender was sold at £ll 10s. Leading Article was bought in for £7 10s.

Denniston Handicap—Lass 1, Dollar 2, Daystar 3. The race of the day. Won by a neck. Divs £1 13s and 14s. Tradesmen’s Handicap —Pilot (Miles’s) 1, Index 2, Allerton 3. A protest was lodged against Pilot for alleged starting before he was instructed.
