Next' morning a steamer with the sheriff and six officers gave cbase and got alongside after an hour and a half's chase.

The Captain refused to return and Constables were placed aboard and he dropped one of the sails, which the crew replaced. Finally the sheriff prevailed upon the Captain to return.
