DISASTROUS FIRES.

A serious fire occured in the Avenue between six and seven this mording, and the large two storey premises known as Victoria House, occupied by Buekrell (draper) and Critchton (boot and shoe shop) was completely destroyed. Buckrell’a stock is insured for £3500, and Crichton’s stock £1650. The building Was insured for £IOO9 in the Manchester and £SOO each in the Commercial. Union, and Norwich Union. Buckrell’a loss is estimated at £2OOO above the insurance, and Chrichton’s at £IOOO.
New Plymouth, Dee 22,
A fire at three this morning completely destroyed the residence of the late Major Brown at Henui, The insurance office affected is the South British for £2OO.
