Silver Mines Close Down. Sydney, Dec 20.
A notice is posted at the Broken Hill Fourteen mine that the directors are sorry owing to the prices for lead and silver falling to such an extent that they have no option but to cease working sulphate ores on the 21st inst, when operations below the 200 ft level will cease and they will shut down until prices improve. About 300 men will be thrown out of employment.
