Wellington, Dec 17.
A case arising out of the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall to Wellington was hoard before Judge Edwards and a jury of fotic this morning, when Blackburn and Smith of Christchurch sued tbe M yor of Wellington and Councillor Luke, representing the Citizens’ Deception Committee fir £3OO being the cost of fireworks provided by the plaintiffs for pyrotechnic display given in honor of the Royal visitors. For the plaintiffs it was held that the display had been in accordance with the specifications, that it had not been successful was owing to the hulk from which it was given being moored too far out in the harbour. Plaintiffs were not concerned about the sight afforded, as they wore consulted about the position in which the hulk should be placed.
The defence to the action was that the displav had been a poor one and that tbe plaintiffs hai not brought such expert knowledge, judgment, and experience to bear upon their work as was expected. The jury gave a verdict for plaintiffs for £2OO with costs.
