Row on a Barque. Lyttelton, Dec 14. On the barque Lake Erie last night a seaman, named William Lawry, with a razor seriously wounded James Murphy, another seaman.' He was unable to appear and accused was remanded for a week. South African Trade. Wellington, This Day. As a result of the visit of the New Zealand Trade Commissioner to South Africa, several orders for butter, cheese and eggs, have been sent to this colony from the Cape. The South African Fisheries and Cold Storage Co. at Capetown, is now asking for quotations for largo quantities of dried fat of barraoouta.
Inspector Lee. School Inspector Lee, who is retiring from the service, was presented with a solid silver tea and coffee service by the teachers of the Wellington district, Suicide. Wanganui, Dec 15. A man named Charles Stanley Corry committed suicide on daturday afternoon by cutting his throat with a razar. The man wat supposed to have no relations in the colony. A letter addressed to hia brother, a clergyman in Queensland, and written two days before he committed suicide, was found on deceased, in which his intention of committing the act was stated.
Suicide. Wellington, Dec 16.
A Blenheim man known as Captain Picken, is supposed to have suicided at Eason’s Yalley, Picton, yesterday, by opening a vein in his arm. Picken has seen better days. Recently he had acted as cook to mining mrvey parties.
