LEVIATHAN DREDGING COMPANY.

([’ER PRESS ASSOCIATION.)

Dunedin, Dec 13,

At a meeting of shareholder in the Leviathan Gold Dredging Co. to-night it was decided to adjourn till the 23rd to permit of the balance of preference shares being applied for. Up to the present, including promises from Christchurch, over 10,000 preference shares have been applied for.

At a well attended meeting of shareholders in the above company, held at Christchurch on Wednesday night, Mr Lindsay said he had written to the secretary referring to the rumours floating round regarding, the company, and the alleged desire of certain persons for liquidation. The secretary had replied stating that the directors would be very pleased to see the preferential shares taken up, and that there was no desire on the part of the directors to foreclose. The conditions were that the holders of the preferenoe>hares of 5s should bo paid 10s each out of dividends before the other shares received any dividend. After a long discussion it was resolved to vote against a voluntary wind up of the company, and to recommend the directors to do all possible to get the preference shares taken up, preference being given to present shareholders.” At the meeting preference shares to the total of 1450 were taken up.
