The Coaciliation Board took evidence to-day in the case in which the Coal Miners Union sought for the reinstatement in the Allandalo Coal Mine of Fred Loades with the payment of 10* per day since the 11'h ctobAr. Loades was the local secretary and was appointed the delegate to attend the mee'ing at Kaitaogata. He applied for leave, but did no: get a definite reply, as the mine was very busy owing to the fl loding of the Shag l J oint mine. Loades went away and another man was put in his place. On his return he was told that he could take his too's out of the mine. The Union sought to show that his dismissal was due to his connection with the Union and for information alleged to have hen given before the Coal Mines Commission. Thin was denied by the Allandale f'o, who contended that Loades had dismissed himself. An offer had been made to take him back, but no reply was received.
