The team's final practice at the nels to-day, McLaren's batting showed no trace of his recent attack of rheumatism. Jessop had slightly injured his left arm at Newcastle. It is understood that the damage is not sufficient to handicap him to any extent. Several of the Englishmen showed decidedly improved form, Gunn especially* Trttmb'le and Laver did a lot of work with the ball. Jennings prepared a splendid wicket. He claims, if the Weather holds-, it will last a week. The ground-, after a long spell of hot' and dry weather, is fast. The weather to-night is fine, but thunder is hanging Over the ground. M'Laren finally selects his team in the morning.
