In the Senate the Bill passed nil stages providing that the State la\Vs should apply, to offences against the Commonwealth'.
The Homo of Bepresentative* adopted the Senate's amendments in the Kanaka and Aliens Restriction Bills. Plough mould boards, sheep shearing machines, nails (excepting horsehoe), engines (portable, traction and oil) are placed on the free list. Sir Geo Turner explained later on that engines would be placed on the division where a bonus would be given to a manufacture and a dnty imposed.
