VOLUNTEER UNIFORMITY.
(Secial to "Stab") Dunedin, Dec 10. Lieut. Colonel Robm, C. 8., intimated some few weeks ago to hi 3 battalion commanders that he was desirious of having the battalion system adopted with regard to all financial arrangements, and interior ecoaomy. Hitherto, each company has been managed as a separate union, in these matters with the result that there are many points of difference between the various corps, where none should exist. The officers of the first battalion of Otago Rifle Voluateers have held sevleral meetings with the object of bringing the various corps into financial line but as the majority of the corps are considerably in debt a.id moreover differently uniformed, there are numerous difficulties in the way of accomplishing what is wished to overcome these and ensure the early starting of this system. It has been decided to hold a grand military carnival in the Garrison Hall in May or June next.
