FIRE AT WANGANUI.

Wanganui, Dec 7.

A fire occurred shortly before seven this morning in a building cn Taupo Quay, owned by Mrs Donald Boss and occupied by H. T. Johns, builder. The building was gutted, but the contents were saved. The Herald’s publishing room

was destroyed and the machinery rqHm only saved by a brick wall. A fish; monger, who lived in the adjoining btlilding Had all his nets destroyed and 40 fowls roasted. The stables belonging to Thompson* Lewis and Cc, and Tucker Bros; butcher?!, iVero searched; but thb horses were uninjured. The insurance on the building gutted is £3OO in the Commercial, Unioii and other insurances arh not available.
