The Premier gives an emphatic denial to tho reports that it is intended to despatch an Eight Continent, or that he will bo accompanied to London by military escorts.
The Waimate Fire. Napier, Dec 6,
The fire in the Waimate has been completely mastered. The work of removing the damaging cargo and pumping out the water is now proceeding.

Wellington, This Day.
At the Supreme Court, Frederick Gorrie, charged with cettle stoaling, was admitted to probation, subject to stringent provisions as to the recoupment of the owner of cattle for the loss.
