FRISCO MAIL CONTRACT DECLINED.

(per press association.) Auckland This Day. Dunett, representative of tho Oceanic Company has received letters from Spreckos ia reference to the proposals of New Zealand for an eighteen months contract, Spreckels considers the offer altogether inadequate. There are also conditions in the proposed contract under which the Oceanic Coy draws a large subsidy. These preclude the acceptance of the contract in its present form Dunnett says the terms are not good enough to induce Spreckles to tie his company up. It is probable that he will negotiate with the Federal Government with a view to include Brisbane instead of Auckland as the first port of call. Meanwhile the service will probably be carried on as usual.
