GREY COUNTY COUNCIL.
The above Council resumed its sittings yesterday morning at 10.30 o'clock. All Councillors bain» present. Th. 9 matter of Mr O'Brien's application for compensation was adjourned till next meeting.
The County Chairman and Messrs M'Carthy, Marshall, Larkin, Harris, Hannan and Hargreaves were appointed members of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board.
The Hospital Trustees and Benevolent Society members appointed were Messrs M'Carthy and Phillips. Mr Harris was .• appointed Treasurer, and Messrs M'Carthy and Hannan to countersign cheques. No recommendation was made by the engineer in regard to Mr Burrell's application for road at Cobden.
Mr Skeates was ordered to bo informed that the Council would not clear the drain of blackberry bushes. Also stating that the Noxious Weeds Act would be enforced.
As soon as authority is obtained it was decided to expend the grant of £1,400 in constructing a bridge over the Greenstone Greek. In the event of Mr T. O'Donnel refusing t 3 remove fences and buildings of the road at Cobden. it was decided to take legal action. The Harbor Board are to be requested to construct a drain on Nelson Quay at Cobden,
The Engineer was instructed to report at next meeting on the state of the track from Upper Moonlight to the Shetland Sluicing claim. Application is to be made to the Government for authority to expend the various grants appearing on the estimates, and also to point out the unfairness of having grants placed under heading of Grey County that are really intended for adjoining district*. Mr 8. Samuel was appointed sexton of the Ahaura cemetery at a salary of £ls per annum.
£6 was ordered to b) spent in repairing the Greenstone cemetery fence. The next meeting of the Council was fixed for December 30th.
