The half-yearly meeting of the Bank of New South Wales showed the net profits for the half year to be £101,646, which with the undivided balance of last year gives £131,543 for distribution. The divided is 10 per cent per annum and £20,000 is added to the reserve, carried forward £11,543. The report refers to the exceedingly satisfactory business done In New Zealand.
The Federal Tariff.

In the Federal House of Representatives Mr M’Millian moved for a reduction of duty on bacon and hams from 8d to 2d. Mr O’Mafly (Tasmania) suggested reciprocity with New Zealand. Hon Mr Kingston said that ho would bo delighted to see New Zealand in the Federation. It New Zealand approached the Federal Government they would gladly assist to bring about more intimate relations between that colony and the Commonwealth. The amendment was negatived.

The State Parliament has passed the Coupon Abolition Bill. The leader of the Opposition in the State Parliament is expected to mo\c a censure or Government next week. New Guinea Magistrate Murdered. Brisbane, Nov 22. Guilianetti the acting Magistrate was murdered at Helena New Guinea by a party of escaped prisoners. Two of the latter wore recaptured and the third was partially eaten by a crocodile while crossing a river Australian Ministry. Perth, Nov 22. The new Ministry has been sworn in, the personal being Premier and Treasurer, Morgon; Attorney-General, Moorehead ; Lands, Nanson; Railways and Mines, Wilson; Works, Qninlan; Colonial Secretary, Moss. Rifle Championship. Melbourne, Nov 22. At the rifle meeting, the King’s match was won by Gunn (Victoria), 323 ; Championship, Grummett (Victoria) 392.
