Mayoral Election. Wellington, November 16.

Cr. C. J. Farr was elected by the Borough Council to the Mayoralty of Karori, vacant through the bankruptcy of the late mayor. The Antarctic Expedition.

Christchurch, November 12.

Twenty-five Canterbury flock owners are contributing tea prime Canterbury sheep a piece as a gift to the discovery on condition that the Government will deliver the sheep free at Lyttelton. It is also suggested that perhaps some other districts might supply the expedition with beef, butter and cheese on same terms.

Sudden Death. Woodville, This Day.

Jean Birmie, an 18 year old daughter of an old resident of Pahiatua on a visit here, was found dead on her bedroom floor. She was only ailing for a week. Heart disease is supposed to have been the cause.

Daniell Dossetor was fined £5 at the Magistrate’s Court to-day for having falsely pretended to be a doctor of medicine, and £1 for distribution of circulars contrary to the Offensive Publications Act,
