The Australian Storms. Received this day at 9 39 a. nr Sydney, Nov 16. A violent storm at Sydney last night lasted for a few minutes,
It did considerable damage especially in the Northern suburbs, where a number of houses were uaroofed and treesj uprooted. There was much havoc in the orchards. The wind reached fifty miles per hour. Melbourne, Nov 16, Fitzgerald’s circus suffered badly through the cyclone. An immense tent was riddled completely and destroyed by the hailstones. There was a panic amongst the animals. Devastation in the country is widespread besides destruction to houses property. Losses in crops, stocks and orchards are very great. The English Cricketers. Melbourne, Nov 16. There is much dissatisfaction in cricket circles at the New South Wales Association refusing McLaren's request to be allowed to appoint an umpire. It is reported that rather than submit to suob arbitrary dictation, the Melbourne Club may cancel the Englishmen’s match beginning at Sydney on Friday. The Westralian Ministry. Perth, Nov 16. It is understood that a hitch has ocurred in regard to the formation of a Cabinet. Piesse has been unable to form a Ministry, and will wait on the Governor to-day and advise that Morgan be sent for. Bubonic Plague. Received this day at 9 46 a m. Sydney, Nov 16. No official report has yet been received in regard to the suspected plague case. It is stated that several are dead but healthy rats were found in the vicinity where the boy worked. The authorities contemplate a campaign against rats, which have been largely on the increase. Old Age Pensions. Melbourne, Nov 16. The Old Age Pension returns show the number of pensioners as 16,253, and the annual cost £311,000.
