WESTLAND SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION.
The District Traffic Manager is kindly arranging for the scholars and parents from Otira, Jackson’s, and the other schools between Jackson’s and Moana, to be able to attend the inaugural sports meeting of the Westland Schools Athletic Association to be held at Hokitika on Monday, December 2nd, (Anniversary Day). A train will run from Otira on Monday morning, reaching Hokitika at midday, and the excursionists will be able to return by Tuesday morning’s train. As this is the first occasion on which a schools’ excursion has been possible from the locality, there is every probability of a very large number taking advantage of this opportunity. Negotiations are still in progress as to the general train arrangements, which it is hoped will be of a satisfactory nature. From present appearances the sports will be a great success. The juveniles are taking great interest in the matter, and are hard at work training for the different events. '
