Hospital Management

Mastbrton, This Day.

The Hospital Trustees held a special meeting to consider a case which recently caused anfavourablo comment through the district. A young man was suffering from a severely crushed leg. and in a critical condition was brought in at a time when the medical officer was absent. Three other local practitioners were asked to attend the hospital, but declined, giving certain personal reasons. Two nurses have also resigned, but th's ia not attributable to any friction with the hospital doctor.. After a lengthly discussion it was deciled to offer the present medical attendant i>2so per annum on guaranteeing that either his own or services of another doctor shall always be available for the hospital

New Zealand Grand Lodge of Masons. Dunedin, Nov 7. The Annual Communication of the New Zealand Grand Lodge of Freemasons was held to-day. G. M. Bro. Russell presided and there was a fair attendance. The delegates summary of Grand Lodge funds showed the balance on September 30th were General Fund, £790 lls 7d ; Fund of Benevolence, £2227 18s 6d; Masonic Widows’ and Orphans’ Fund, £875 15s 9d ; Aged and Indigent Members’ Fund, £4089 13s 4d. The G. M. mentioned that nothing of importance transpired during the year. It was stated that Bro. H. J. Williams P.D.G.M., Wellington would probably be the next Grand Master.
