Lord Kitchener reports that after the Scottish Horse had checked the flank attack by the Boers under cover of ground, they circled the other flank and rushed the guns killing Benson. Colonel Guinness’ camp was simultaneously attacked, preventing support being given.
The Boers removed the guns under the cover of the British ambulance. The natives atEustenburg district have been supplying Kemp’s commando with JEood.
It was De Larey’s intention when ho made the attack on Yondonop’s column on the 24th, to capture British guns.
