Christchurch, November 2. The C..T.C. spring racing carnival commenced to-day in fine weather, and with a largo attendance. £22,073 was put through the totalisator. The result are : Spring Hurdles— Huku and Dundee dead heat 1, Eight Metal 3. All started. Time, 3 55. j. Divs, £1 0s Gd and £8 ss. Maiden Plate—Goldenmere 1, San Remo 2, Shrapnel Shell 3. Scratched — Glitter. Won comfortably. Time, 1 46. Divs, £3 12s 6d and 9s 6d, , Riccarton Welter —Field Battery 1, Ayrdalo 2, West Guard 3, Goldenmere and Stopina was scratched. Won easily. Time, 1 19 2-5. Divs, £3 12s 6d and £7 2s Gd.
NEW ZEALAND CUP. Tor tnl la 1 Melwood 2 Sirius 3 All started. Won easily. Time, 335 2-5. Divs. £9 11s and £6 4s. Welcome Stakes— Orloff 1, Greek Maid 2, Wheellock 3. Do Murska and Lyonncsscs were scratched. Won comfortably. Time, 51 4-5. Divs, £1 13s and £3O 13s. Shorts —Hawthorn 1, Nor’-wester 2, Romanoff 3. Yscult and Bold were scratched. Won very easily. Time, 51 2-5. Divs, £2 17s and £1 17s.
Stewards Handicap—Royal Artillery 1, Pampero 2, Dundas 3. Okoari, St Michael, Jemima, Bcaley, and Stepina were scratched. Won handily by two lengths. Time, 1 17. Divs, £2 6s 6d and £3 7s Gd. Ladies’ Purse —The Master 1, Khaki 2, Magnificent 3. Carlo was scratched. Won cleverly. Time, 2 45 4-5. Divs, £7 6s and £4 17s,
