LORD RANFURLY’S TERM OF OFFICE.

In reference to the announcement that the Government have been in communication with the Colonial Office with a view to getting them to agree to an extension of Lord Ranfurly’s term of office, though nothing official has been allowed to transpire on the subject, I have reason to believe, telegraphs our Wellington correspondent, that his Excellency has no intention of staying on in the colony for a second term, but it is possible he might consent to remain for a short period longer, as it is well known that he likes both the people of Now Zealand and life in the colony.
